Using this site
By using commonglot.github.io you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What the site provides
The CommonGlot Foundation presents information about the GlotSuite research projects and a directory of languages and writing systems, including what language technology supports each one. It is an informational resource maintained by an open, non-commercial initiative.
Licences
The website's source code and content in its GitHub repository are available under the Apache License 2.0, unless a file says otherwise.
Directory data and attribution
The language and script directory is compiled from the sources below. Each source keeps its own licence, and some (such as Glottolog's CC BY 4.0) require attribution. If you reuse the data, please credit the original sources as well as CommonGlot.
| Source | Licence |
|---|---|
| Glottolog | CC BY 4.0 |
| GlotScript-R | MIT |

GlotSuite projects
Models, datasets and tools linked from project pages are released by their authors under their own licences, stated in each project's repository or dataset card. Datasets built from web text may contain material owned by third parties; check each dataset's terms before use.
Accuracy
Directory information is generated automatically from public sources and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Language names, classifications and endangerment statuses reflect those sources, not an official position of CommonGlot. Do not rely on the site for decisions where errors could cause harm. Corrections are welcome.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to disrupt the site or the services it relies on. Automated access is fine, but for bulk use download the JSON files or clone the repository instead of crawling every page.
Third-party services
Maps, fonts and libraries are provided by third parties (see the Privacy Policy), and links lead to external sites. Their use is subject to their own terms; we are not responsible for their content or availability.
Names and logos
The CommonGlot logo and the names and logos of GlotSuite projects identify those projects. You may use them to refer to the projects, but not in a way that suggests endorsement without permission.
Contributions
Issues, corrections and pull requests submitted to the site's repository are made under the repository's Apache License 2.0, as described in section 5 of that licence.
No warranty and limitation of liability
The site, its code and its data are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the extent permitted by law, the CommonGlot Foundation and its contributors are not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the site or its content.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the full history is public in the site's GitHub repository. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
